All the Places begins with lines borrowed from maps—roads, rivers, currents, boundaries, and other systems used to describe and organize place. I trace and layer these lines in graphite, allowing different geographies and ways of seeing to accumulate on a single surface.
As the lines overlap, their original references become less distinct. What begins as a collection of recognizable mapping systems becomes something more ambiguous: a network of crossings, interruptions, connections, and spaces.
I'm interested in the tension between our attempts to locate and define a place and the complexity of what those systems can actually describe.
